Nordic Libraries Annual

NLA logo, green and blue compass. Nordic Libraries Annual is an annual conference looking at topical issues in public libraries and library development.

In 2022 the conference will be organized 2-3.11 in Helsinki, at the Central Library Oodi. Most of the programme will also be streamed online. The theme for NLA 2022 is Literacy, Libraries, and The Civil Society.

Libraries cultivate literacy for all ages. Literacy is a skill, but also a life-long practice of discovery, learning, and joy. Literacy has specific outcomes for personal and societal well-being by promoting participation to culture and society. It creates a sense of security and strengthens the democratic base of our communities.

The conference will consider how reading has changed. What are the challenges of literacy and literacy practices for young people, for example? And are libraries still important pillars of literacy?

Welcome to Helsinki 2-3.11.2022!
